12) Checking your VAT number for a wholesale application

Ask you trade prices Then, we check the VAT number you enter against two public sources. VIES, the European Commission's VAT database, confirms whether the number exists and returns the associated company name and address. In the case of a Belgian number, we then ask the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises which activities are listed on your profile so we can see if you run a hairdressing salon. Only the VAT number is sent to VIES, and only the enterprise number to the CBE. Your email address, phone number and explanation remain with us.

We keep the responses from these two sources on file with your request. This allows us to demonstrate later what the decision was based on, and means we do not have to search for the information again in the event of a query or complaint. If neither source provides a clear answer, your request will not be rejected but will be reviewed by the shop.
